Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center
Huntington, NY 11743

Started in 1927 by Anna Hunninghouse, Little Shelter Animal Rescue & Adoption Center is a no-kill, top-notch establishment that is dedicated to providing dogs and cats with services they need to get adopted. Assistance provided includes, rescuing, rehabilitation, neutering /spaying, and other medical services. According to their website, “every potential adopter is interviewed and thoroughly screened to ensure the best quality homes.”

In addition to increasing the quality of life of animals, the center aims to assist humans- with the help of cats and dogs. Human services include lifting spirits of the elderly and assisting children with their reading. The center also provides assistance to many veterans who wish to adopt a dog or a cat.

It is important to note that on their website, Little Shelter states, “we are a non-profit that relies strictly on donations from the public to run and take care of our animals,” so helping them obtain funds would be a good idea.
